Triturate the asafetida to a smooth paste with a small quantity of the infusion of valerian, and gradually add sufficient of the infusion to produce about 50 (10 fluid ounces); dissolve the ammonium carbonate in 40 (8 fluid ounces) of the infusion, add the liquid extract of cascara, mix, add the mixture gradually to the asafetida emulsion, and make up to the required quantity with infusion of valerian.
Dose.—15 to 30 mils (½ to 1 fluid ounce).
