Pulvis Podophylli Compositus.—Compound Powder of Mandrake.

Preparation.—Take of blue flag, mandrake, bitter root, swamp milkweed, each, in powder, 1 ounce; bloodroot, ½ ounce. Mix together.

Action, Medical Uses, and Dosage.—This powder is cathartic and alterative, and is useful in cases of obstinate constipation, hepatic derangements, dyspepsia, worms, and in scrofulous, rheumatic, and syphilitic affections. The dose is ½ or 1 drachm, repeated 3 times a day. It may be administered in water or tea (J. King).
