Verbascum Thapsus. (Mullein.)

Preparation.—Prepare a tincture from the fresh tops and smaller leaves when the plant is in flower, ℥viij. to Alcohol 50° Oj. Dose from gtts. v. to ʒj.

The Verbascum exerts a mild influence upon the nervous system, quieting irritation and promoting sleep. It also allays bronchial irritation, and checks cough. It is very feeble, and has but a limited use.
