Cassia senna is a pretty powerful carthartic. While none of my references specifically list it as toxic, taking too much in one dose can cause severe dirrarhea....which has a host of complications of its own. I would also think the possiblity exists for the same happening if too much is taken in one day.

Yes, apparently people have died from taking too much senna. Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, mostly.

If the answer is yes then Contra-indications are:- Large doses of the leaf cause nausea, griping pain and red coloration of the urine.
