Melastoma. Melastoma Ackermanni (no such plant. -Henriette).—This Colombian plant of the Fam. Melastomacae is used in South America as an anti-neuralgic. Its abundant essential oil resembles methyl salicylate, if indeed it be not identical with it. (See N. R., Aug. and Sept., 1883.)
