Valonia. Acorn Cups. Vallone, Velanede, Gallon, Fr. Knoppern, Walonen, G.—The great cups of the acorns of the Quercus Aegilops L. (Fam. Cupuliferae), a native of Bosnia, contain a very large percentage of tannin. They are extensively exported for dyeing and tanning, and have been employed as an astringent in diarrhea.
